Students and staff at Rochester Grammar School are rejoicing after receiving their A-Level grades.

his year, despite the challenges caused by the pandemic, students have excelled, and the academy is celebrating a year of strong results for students. Many students are now preparing to head on to the university, apprenticeship or job of their choice.

RGS students showed the breadth of their talents with success in both STEM and creative subjects.  Particularly impressive were Economics and Further Maths, with these two subjects seeing 50% of their students get an A*.

While all students have done well, there are some standout individual achievements. These include:

  • John Adeyemi who successfully achieved 4 A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths and has secured his place to study Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London.
  • Leena Maulvi who achieved 3 A*s in Maths, Chemistry and Computer Science, as well as a D2 in GPR. She intends to study Computer Science at King’s College London.
  • Victoria Greer, Samuel Gosling, Bronwyn Johnston, Isabel Coen, Niamh McLaughlin, Aeryn Ralph, Eleanor Masters and Amy Lyons who all successfully achieved 3 A*s and have secured places at some of the top universities in the country.

Due to the pandemic, the Government made the decision that this year, young people’s grades would be determined by teachers, based on work

they had produced throughout their courses. These grades were then moderated and assessed by external exam boards who awarded the final grades.

Mrs Brinklow, Principal at Rochester Grammar School, said:

“I am incredibly proud of our students as they receive their A-Level grades today. They have worked so hard over the last two years and faced all the challenges of the pandemic in their stride. To see them receive the grades they deserve and be able to progress onto their next steps is fantastic.

We are excited to see what the future holds for them and would like to say a huge thank you to all our students, parents, carers, staff and local community for your support and encouragement.”

Mr Gardner, CEO of Thinking Schools Academy Trust, added:

“I am delighted for our students at Rochester Grammar School. They have worked exceptionally hard, and it is great to see them excited about their future. Well done to all!”
